Moon
I was out on my walking, looking at the not quite full moon, and contemplating what to write. The waxing gibbous moon was not exactly inspiring and the wind was blowing all my thoughts away. Then, as I approached the Cameron street pedestrian bridge, there was a shadow in front of me that seemed out of place. Tall, slim, curving lines that I couldn't quite make out. The silhouette of a surprisingly tall bird right ahead of me. I stopped and wondered if I could get close enough to get a better picture. I probably should have tried right then, but I took two careful steps forward and that was too much. The bird flew down into the creek. I could still, just make it out, so balancing my phone on the railing of the bridge and using zoom and night sight, I tried to take a picture. A bit blurry, and kind of small, but not terrible. I initially thought it was a crane, but after talking to a more knowledgeable friend, I suspect it's a great blue heron.
