Doughnut Day
In case you didn't know, Regina has a burgeoning doughnut scene. There are at least four small vendors making fresh doughnuts and selling them either at pop-ups or online. Today provided the opportunity to try three of them.
The grapefruit came through nicely. I now know why they sell out quickly at 33 1/3 Coffee Roasters on Saturday mornings.
I started out by going to Fix. Coffee to get a sourdough doughnut from The Everyday Kitchen. I got there at the same time as Suzy and she suggested that I try the maple pecan. I grabbed that and then went off to the Farmer's market to get something from Do Si Donut. I had tried all their normal menu except for the vanilla bean glazed one so that was my choice for today.

The first one I ate was the vanilla bean doughnut. Light, airy, and sweet. It's simple and delicious. So far my favorite from Do Si Donut has been the seabuckthorn and white chocolate, but there are rumors of a lemon meringue doughnut that I'm looking forward to.

Next up was the maple pecan. It's a bit denser than the others, but the subtle sour taste of the dough is delightful.
After that, I walked home, dropped off the rest of my farmers' market purchases and headed off to the Exchange where Northern Belle Bread & Pastry was part of a craft show and had doughnuts. I chose a grapefruit and mint one.

The fourth vendor is HoBo Donuts. I haven't had their doughnuts and to the best of my knowledge they weren't selling any today. That's probably just as well. I don't think I could have eaten a fourth doughnut today.
So that's my first ever doughnut crawl. Suzy wants me to go with her when she does hers, so I'll probably be doing another. But for now, I need to walk around the lake. Maybe twice.
