Progress Report
In January, a person I know from Instagram posted her address so that people could send actual mail. Lacking much else to do, I took her up on that opportunity and, not knowing what else to write, I talked about my vague new year's resolutions. When she wrote back, she mentioned that she had signed up for Hinge and promised to tell me how it was going in her next letter. At that point, I realized that I hadn't actually done anything about giving the dating apps another chance.
So, after getting over my Valentine's day grumpiness, I signed up for Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge. There are probably a hundred more options, but those seemed like the best place to start. It's been going about how I expected:
Well, actually, maybe a bit better than I expected. Between the three apps, I've had eight matches. That's better than any previous time I've used the apps. None of the matches are going anywhere though. Two of them were scam accounts, one never message me back, three of them we had conversations that just fizzled out, one was someone I wasn't interested in, and one was looking for a sugar daddy.
The about normal part of it is that, for the most part, there's no one else to look at on the apps now. There are about 7 new people on Tinder in a day, 2 on Hinge, and less than one per day on Bumble, so not a whole lot of chances to meet someone. Out of boredom, I'll stay on the apps a while longer, but I don't really expect much to change.
(Also good - I have managed to blog in February. I was having trouble thinking of what to write about before this.)
